Pydio is a versatile system which you can use as a classic file explorer application for easily uploading and navigating files on the Web, or as a centralized file-sharing application, similar to what Dropbox, Google Drive, or Box.net are doing.

The difference is that you can host all your files on your own servers, instead of moving your data to remote, unsecure locations.

Pydio comes with a complex settings panel where various configurations can be made to the system, letting the developer setup his own ideal sharing environment, with his own custom sharing rules.

Once setup, the user can upload his own files, share these files with his friends or clients, or he can setup Pydio for his entire team, letting them register and share files with each other, or with whoever they want.

This application can be used in real-life production environments to let developers and designers share resources with one another, grant access to various materials to clients only, or as an Intranet file sharing system for your employees.

If Pydio's interface and functionality might seem familiar to you, then this is because Pydio is the re-branded and enhanced version of AjaXplorer, discontinued since version 5.0.4 and continued as Pydio.
