OpenBay (or The Old Pirate Bay) is an attempt by The Pirate Bay and IsoHunt teams to prevent situations where sometimes questionable actions by local police authorities shut down a file sharing website.
This project neatly packs some of The Pirate Bay source code and allows users to easily download and run it on their servers.
Besides the source code, there's also an actual MySQL dump file of the original Pirate Bay torrent database, along with data from Isohunt.to and Kick Ass Torrents, so you can easily carry on with the original files if local authorities have restricted access to the original site in your country.
The entire OpenBay script runs on the Yii PHP Framework, is quite easy to install and comes packed with an installation wizard so even persons with very few technical skills can get it installed on their servers.
The script works with normal shared hosting accounts and comes with a sample .htaccess file and configuration files for the Sphinx search engine and when deploying it with nginx Web servers.
