decimal.js is a JavaScript library that creates a special type for working specifically with decimal numbers.

The library was inspired by Java's BigDecimal class and provides the proper tools to deal with such numbers, even if they are quite big or have large decimal places.

decimal.js comes with a lot of documentation to teach developers how it can properly be used, and the entire library is very light and has no external dependencies.

It also has been coded in an earlier version of JavaScript, ECMAScript 3, making it compatible with lots of older browsers and JS-capable platforms.

The library includes support for working with decimal numbers in different bases, provides proper support for non-integer powers, and also ships with similar methods and functions found in JavaScript's native Number type.

This means most operations will work the same way, and have a higher rate of precision than using bignumber.js.

decimal.js will work with both client-side (browsers) and server-side (Node.js) environments.

Requirements:

  • JavaScript enabled on client side
  • Node.js for server-side environments
