Apache cTAKES stands for Clinical Text Analysis and Knowledge Extraction System.
This framework allows developers to analyze text for medical terms and pass the data for further processing to the according software.
The Apache cTAKES system is closely integrated with Unified Medical Language System (UMLS), providing relevant results and accurate data processing.
cTAKES supports basic features like sentence boundary detection, POS tagging, morphologic normalization, name and entity recognition, shallow parsing, and drug profiles.
It also includes a dependency parser, a constituency parse, a semantic role labeler, a relation extractor, and a coreference resolver.
