The "GlobularClusters" software is conceived to generate high resolution, photo-realistic 3D images of globular clusters and to simulate in real-time the gravitational interactions between stars. GlobularClusters can be very useful to amateur astronomers to better understand the effects of gravity in a star cluster and to make experiments "at home" by changing fundamental parameters such as concentration and diameter of a cluster or mass and velocity of individual stars. GlobularClusters comes with a user-friendly interface, thus allowing amateur astronomers or students without astrophysical knowledge to use it effectively.
Algorithm: n-body all-pairs with Leap-frog integration
Cluster Generation Parameters: King's concentration, H-R diagram spectral distribution of stars, mass of a central black-hole
Visualization Features: Orbits trails, 3D effect (anaglyph), Selection by star type, Cluster auto-rotation, HD movie recording
Graphical Analysis: Velocity, Acceleration, Potential, Spatial distribution
GlobularClusters is not a game, nor a professional tool difficult to use by amateurs or students. Professional software has minimal user-interface and requires a lot of complex information to work, moreover it doesn't generally offer any graphical output to the user. On the other side, basic or game-like solutions are seriously limited in the scientific aspects of the matter. GlobularClusters is the optimal solution for serious amateurs and students without specific skills.
