Dual DHCP DNS Server

Dual DHCP DNS Server is a non-interactive daemon, implemented in C/C++, that provides an open source DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) and DNS (Domain Name System) server for the small and medium-sized LANs (Local Area Networks).

The software is capable of detecting listening interfaces, it is easy to install and configure, requires little RAM and CPU power and it’s compatible with all mainstream operating systems, including Linux, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X.

Features at a glance

Key features include support for dynamically detecting listening interfaces, support for listening on up to 125 interfaces, lease status support through a web-based interface, human readable configuration, support for duplex operations, as well as support for replicated operations for both DNS and DHCP.

In addition, the software allows users to use standalone versions of either of the DNS or DHCP servers, as well as to use them both at the same time, automatically adds DHCP hosts to DNS if both servers are used, supports a wide range of ranges, and supports zone replication and transfer.

Being designed from the offset to run as replicated load, the Dual DHCP DNS Server program can be installed by anyone, especially users who have no prior knowledge of DHCP and DNS concepts.

Features of the DHCP server

The DHCP part of the project supports static hosts, global DHCP options, relay agents display lease status in HTML, client options, DHCP Range-based options, BOOTP relay agents, Mac range filters, PXE Boot, replicated fail safe DHCP operations, BOOTP, up to 125 ranges and up to 125 listening interfaces.

Features of the DNS server

On the other hand, the DNS component comes with support for dynamic caching, wildcard hosts, MX servers, zone transfers, aliases, DNS proxies, child zones, primary and secondary mode of operations, as well as up to 125 forwarding servers.
