Implementing the latest SQL 2011 language features, HSQLDB, also known as the HyperSQL Database is a modern toolkit for running a Java-based data storage unit.
HSQLDB is an alternative to C and C++ based databases that need a special API and client libraries to be able to connect with Java-based applications.
Written completely in Java, HSQLDB will work out of the box with most Java applications and Web services, without the need of a binding library or client.
This makes database interactions easier to setup and transactions easier to write.
Besides the database's source, HSQLDB also comes with plenty of documentation and examples to help developers get started on their own implementations. Exactly what new users need.
