Tellico is a open source and cross-platform software project designed from the ground up to help users track and organize their collections. It is supported on a wide range of Linux distributions, as well as on the Mac OS X operating system.

Features at a glance

Key features include support for managing many types of items, including music, books, videos, comic books, board games, video games, bibliographies, coins, wines, trading cards or stamps, as well as supports for an unlimited number of user-defined fields.

In addition, the application can import data from a wide range of file formats, including CSV, PDF, Bibtexml, Bibtex, RIS and MODS, support for exporting data to HTML, CSV, PilotDB, Bibtex and Bibtexml formats, support for grouping items, built-in search and view filtering.

Another interesting thing is the abilit to import data from IMDb, Amazon, CDDB, GCstars, z39.50 servers, audio files, Alexandria, SRU servers, as well as various other websites.

Supports a wide range of GNU/Linux and BSD operating systems

While the Tellico developers provide support for a wide range of GNU/Linux operating systems, including Debian, Ubuntu, openSUSE, Fedora, Linux Mint, Gentoo, Pardus, Slackware and Arch Linux, they also support FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD and PC-BSD systems.

Availability and under the hood

A quick look under the hood, will show us that the program relies on a MariaDB or MySQL database for storing your collections, as well as many other libraries, especially Qt for its modern and cross-platform graphical user interface.

Being an open source software, it is available for download as a source archive, allowing the user to configure, compile and install it on any GNU/Linux OS. However, it is best to install the application from the default software repositories of your Linux distribution.

Bottom line

Summing up, Tellico is a really great application for managing all sorts of collections, from books, music and video collections to stamps, coins and wine collections, in style and without too much fuss.
