Jailer is an open source, completely free and multiplatform graphical application implemented in Java and designed from the offset to allow users to browse database data. It can also act as a database subsetting tool.

Exports mass data to SQL and XML

The software is capable of exporting consistent and referentially intact row-sets. It improves the performance of your database, exports mass data to SQL and XML formats, generates hierarchically structured XML, as well as topologically sorted SQL-DML.

Getting started with Jailer

Jailer does not require installation, so you can just unpack the universal ZIP archive, open the folder, right-click on the JailerGUI.sh file, go to Properties, access the Permissions tab, and check the “Allow executing file as program” option.

Then, double-click the JailerGUI.sh file to start the application. Jailer will ask you to configure the data model from the get-go. You can either choose one of the available demos or create a new data model. Click the “OK” button to start using Jailer.

Offers powerful options and an intuitive interface

There are a wide range of powerful options for you to manage your database data, including export and import tools, a data model editor, database analyzers, closure browser, closure border browser, query builder, HTML renderer, database connection manager, as well as different view modes. The graphical user interface is quite intuitive and will look the same on all supported platforms.

Runs on Linux, Windows and Mac

Being written entirely in Java, Jailer is a DBMS (Database Management System) agnostic and platform-independent software that runs on all operating systems where the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) technologies are supported.

It has been successfully tested with 32-bit and 64-bit flavors of the GNU/Linux, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X operating systems. For detailed installation instructions please visit the project's homepage (see link below).
