Usermin For Webmail is an open source, platform-independent, user-friendly and web-based user interface, a mod of the Usermin software, specially designed for the administration of web-based email applications.

Features at a glance

It is a stripped down version of the Usermin application, tailored for web-based email administration. The software comes with a better theme and it has been fully optimized to be used only for the administration of webmails.

The application assumes that you already have a running, healthy and properly configured IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) server installed on your Linux machine, designed to read mbox-formatted directories or email messages from Maildir.

What is Usermin?

Usermin is an open source web-based interface that can be used by any non-root user on a UNIX system to easily perform tasks like reading mail, setting up SSH, or configuring mail forwarding, spam filtering, modify .htaccess files, and view database data.

Usermin can be thought of as a simplified version of Webmin, but targeted at regular users, rather than experienced system administrators, allowing them to read email without the need of an IMAP or POP3 server.

With Usermin, non-root users or users with “limited” privileges will be able to set up Procmail configurations for email forwarding, configure autoresponders for an email server, as well as spam filtering, as well as to view and manage data in PostgreSQL and MySQL databases.

Additionally, it is possible to edit Apache .htaccess configuration files, interact with fetchmail, add email filters, change passwords or execute various commands on the respective Linux server machine.

Availability and supported OSes

For your convenience, the program is available for download as native installers for Debian/Ubuntu, Red Hat Enterprise Linux/Fedora and compatible OSes, as well as a source tarball (tar.gz) file, all of them optimized for both 64-bit and 32-bit instruction set architectures.
