Slate provides an easier way to have conversations via IRC from your desktop.
While some might think IRC is 90s technology, it still has its place and uses and the technology is extremely wide-spread and used in the Web, desktop, and mobile development communities.
Slate will allow developers to easily start an IRC client that works in its separate desktop window, a stripped down Webkit engine.
Under the hood, Slate is powered by the fabulous Node.js platform and uses a very minimal user interface to help users focus on their conversations without being distracted by flashy UI widgets.
Users are able to connect to any public or private IRC channel, customize their login names, and also utilize some built-in keyboard shortcuts.
On the other hand, developers will be able to customize the Slate UI via CSS skins, script it using JS code, and even extend its functionality via its built-in plugin support.
Requirements:
- Node.js
