Bitnami Artifactory Module is a multi-platform and freely distributed software project that offers modules for deploying the Artifactory application on top of running versions of the BitNami LAMP, WAMP and MAMP stacks, without having to install its runtime dependencies.
What is Artifactory?
Artifactory is a free, open source and reliable web-based application that has been designed from the ground up to act as a platform-independent repository manager. Key features include LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) integration, scheduled backups, fine-grained permissions, auditing, as well as sophisticated artifacts management policies.
Installing Bitnami Artifactory Module
Bitnami’s modules automate the installation of web-based applications on top of existing LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP), MAMP (Mac, Apache, MySQL and PHP) or WAMP (Windows, Apache, MySQL and PHP) stacks, running well on all GNU/Linux distributions, as well as on the Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X operating systems.
To install the Artifactory application on your LAMP stack server, download the package that corresponds to your computer’s hardware architecture, 64-bit (recommended) or 32-bit, run it and follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
Run Artifactory in the cloud or virtualize it
Besides installing Artifactory on your personal computers, on top of a Bitnami LAMP, WAMP or MAMP stack, you can also run it in the cloud, thanks to the pre-built cloud images offered by BitNami. Additionally, Bitnami’s virtual appliance based on the latest stable release of the Ubuntu Linux distribution allows users to virtualize Artifactory on the VMware ESX, ESXi and Oracle VirtualBox virtualization software.
The Bitnami Artifactory Stack and Docker container
Bitnami is well known for offering both standalone stacks and modules for its products, which means that you can use Bitnami Artifactory Stack to simplify the installation and hosting of the Artifactory application and its runtime dependencies on real hardware. An Artifactory Docker container can be downloaded from the project’s homepage.
