Bitnami Akeneo Module is a cross-platform and free graphical installer that allows you to deploy the Akeneo web-based application on top on an existing LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP) stack, as well as on the MAMP (Mac, Apache, MySQL and PHP) stack infrastructures.
What is Akeneo?
Akeneo is an open source web-based application that has been designed from the ground up to act as a PIM (Product Information Management) system, crafted to perfect for retailers who want the best free available solution to their multichannel needs.
Installing Bitnami Akeneo Module
The Akeneo module offered by Bitnami is distributed as native installers for both GNU/Linux and Mac OS X operating systems, supporting the 64-bit and 32-bit versions of the LAMP and MAMP stacks.
To install Akeneo on top of your Bitnami LAMP Stack, download the package that corresponds to your computer’s hardware architecture, make it executable, double click it and follow the on-screen instructions.
Run Akeneo in the cloud or virtualize it
In addition to installing the Akeneo application on personal computers, you can also run in in the cloud using Bitnami’s pre-built cloud images designed for the Windows Azure and Amazon EC2 cloud hosting providers, as well as to virtualize it, thanks to Bitnami’s virtual application based on the latest stable version of Ubuntu and tailored for the Oracle VirtualBox and VMware ESX/ESXi virtualization software.
The Bitnami Akeneo Stack and Docker container
Besides the Bitnami Akeneo Module product described here, Bitnami also offers an all-in-one solution that grately simplifies the installation and hosting of the Akeneo web-based application on desktop computers or laptops, dubbed Bitnami Akeneo Stack, which is available for download separately on Softoware, free of charge. A free and ready-to-use Akeneo Docker container will also be provided on the project’s website (see link below for details).
