Oreka is an open source and modular web-based application that can be used to easily retrieve and record audio streams. It supports VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) recording.

The software can also record from a standard sound device, such as line-in or microphone, detect voice activity, and features an open plugin architecture, as well as automatic audio segmentation.

Key features include support for capturing audio streams from pcap trace files or multiple network devices in parallel, detection of voice activity, wire to storage automatic transcoding, support for recording VoIP RTP sessions, as well as support for recording from standard sound devices, such as line input or microphone.

Additionally, the software is capable of recording multiple channels simultaneously, stores each recording into separate audio files, supports recording from any audio source, supports automatic audio segmentation, and a offers a powerful plugin architecture for adding additional signal processing filters or audio codecs.

Supported encodings include Speex, GSM6.10, iLBC RTP, G.721, G.722, and G.711 (A-Law, U-Law). In addition, Oreka can store audio recording into encoded WAV files, or the GSM6.1 and G.711 (A-Law, U-Law) formats.

It’s easy to use web interface has been tested with all major web browsers, including Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Chromium, Opera and Internet Explorer, and provides access to recordings, timestamp, recording duration, direction, remote party, and local party.

It’s compatible with numerous platforms

Oreka is a platform-independent application, which means that it is compatible with numerous platforms. At the moment, it has been successfully tested with CallManager Express and Cisco CallManager, Shoretel, Panasonic, Mitel, Sylantro, Siemens HiPath, SIP, Nortel, Avaya PBXes, Lucent APX8000, Alcatel and Genband M6.

Being written in the Java programming language, Oreka is compatible with any operating system where Java Runtime Environment (JRE) is available, including all GNU/Linux distributions, as well as the Microsoft Windows, BSD, Solaris and Mac OS X operating systems.
