Band-in-a-Box is an automatic accompaniment program for Macintosh. You type in the chord symbols to any song, using standard chord symbols like C, Fm7, Cm7b5 etc. choose a style and press PLAY. Band-in-a-Box then generates a pro quality 5 instrument accompaniment of bass, drums, piano, guitar and strings in over 100 styles of music.

What is new in this release:

  • Added: A new StyleMaker has been added for editing existing styles, or making new ones.
  • Fixed: Crash if closing the Song Titles dialog immediately after opening it.
  • Fixed: Magenta color in splash screen if using macOS 10.12 or 10.13.
  • Fixed: Song title was not being saved properly in certain cases.

What is new in version 2018.263:

  • Fixed: Some dialogs would prevent menus and their hot-keys from working.

What is new in version 2017.184:

  • Fixed: Changing the color setting for "Window background" in the Audio Edit window had no effect.
  • Fixed: Hitting [Cancel] in the Audio Edit Settings dialog would cause a random zoom to occur.
  • Fixed: The [Sample] button in the Audio Edit window would zoom in to the far left of the screen, rather than to the cursor.

What is new in version 2017.180:

What is new in version 2017.171:

  • Fixed: Chord sheet fonts were limited to a maximum size that would not quite fill the cells. This would cause superscript extensions to sit too high above the roots.
  • Fixed: Some hot keys were not working if in the notation window (eg. command+3 to mute bass, control+T to change screen mode, etc.).
  • Fixed: The Select Song by Title dialog would not use the correct directory.
  • Fixed: "Open Previous Style" is set for "At program bootup..." then the user would be asked if they wanted to save their song when loading a different song.
  • Fixed: Save As did not work. All files would be saved with the name "No File Name.sgu".

What is new in version 2016.152:

  • Fixed: Audio could not be pasted beyond the end of the existing audio data.

  • Improved: If making a tempo map after using the Audio Chord Wizard, and the current style has a different time signature, you will be asked to choose a different style. If possible, you can choose to keep the current style, but the time signature of each bar will be set for you.

  • Fixed: In the Japanese version, when opening the Email dialog, you would be asked to save the song even though it was already saved.
  • Fixed: In the Japanese version, attaching a rendered song to an email would produce a rendered file with garbage text in the title, and it would not be attached to the email.
  • Fixed: In the Japanese version, a song with an audio track would not give the option to attach the audio file.
