Gambas

Gambas is an open source and free development environment based on a Basic interpreter with object extensions, such as Visual Basic.

Gambas is comprised of the following programs: a compiler, an interpreter, an archiver, a graphical user interface component, and a development environment.

With Gambas, you can quickly design a GUI (Graphical User Interface), access PostgreSQL and MySQL databases, pilot KDE applications with DCOP, translate your program into many languages, create network applications easily, and much more.

Gambas is, before all, a Basic language with object extensions. A program written with Gambas is a set of files. Each file describes a class, in terms of object programming.

Furthermore, the class files are compiled, and executed by an interpreter. The development environment is written with Gambas itself.
