TurnKey Tracks Live CD is an open source project that provides users with a dedicated appliance for effortlessly deploying the Tracks web-based application on server machines. It uses the stable and reliable base of the highly acclaimed Debian GNU/Linux operating system. Tracks is an open source and web-based Getting Things Done app.

Distributed as bootable Live CDs

The appliance is distributed as Live CD ISO images that contain the Apache, Postfix, Webmin, MySQL, Webshell and SSH open source software packages. The ISOs are designed from the ground up to be burned onto CD discs or written to USB flash drives, and allow users to directly install the operating system to a local disk drive or just try it, without installing anything on their computers, using the demo mode.

Comes with all upstream Tracks configurations

This TurnKey edition comes with all the upstream Tracks configurations, which are installed to /var/www/tracks, and uses the mod_rails module for the Apache web server, providing out-of-the-box Phusion Passenger support.

In addition, it provides support for secure SSL connections, a Postfix MTA (Mail Transfer Agent) for sending email messages, as well as several Webmin modules for configuring the Apache, MySQL and Postfix servers.

Getting started with TurnKey Tracks Live CD

The installation process takes place in text-mode, requiring users to only partition the disk and install the bootloader. The default username for the Webshell, SSH, Webmin and MySQL components is root, and users will be able to set new passwords for the system administration and MySQL accounts during the first boot configuration process.

It is also possible to initialize the TurnKey Migration, Backup, Domain Management and Dynamic DNS services during the first boot setup. At the end of the installation process, you can view the active Tracks appliance services.

Bottom line

The TurnKey Linux Configuration Console can be used to set up network interfaces, as well as to reboot or shutdown the server. Both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures are supported at this time.
