Sensei was developed at LinkedIn and is written with a cocktail of Java, JavaScript, and Python.
It is completely different compared to traditional RDBMS systems, being written for environments where data changes at rapid times, on multiple machines at once.
The Sensei DB can handle heavy update and query volumes and its performance is spectacular even with structured, faceted data.
Another difference from classic SQL databases is its query language, BQL, a specific language written for and supported only in Sensei.
Java and Python-based client libraries for interfacing with Sensei programmatically from other languages are also available.
Features:
- Scales well horizontally
- Data is streamed

- Comes with its own SQL-like query language
