Scan Tailor

Scan Tailor is an interactive post-processing application for scanned pages. It performs operations such as page splitting, deskewing, adding/removing borders, and others. You give it raw scans, and you get pages ready to be printed or assembled into a PDF or DJVU file. Scanning, optical character recognition, and assembling multi-page documents are out of scope of this project.

Scan Tailor is Free Software (which is more than just freeware). It's written in C++ with Qt and released under the General Public License version 3. We develop both Windows and GNU/Linux versions.

Installation:

Developer comments

This project is under development, but it's already usable. All essential features have been implemented, but we aren't going to stop there!

We need developers! This project started in late 2007 and has been mostly a one man effort since then. If you are a developer good at C++, you are welcome to join! Knowledge of image processing is not required - there are many tasks unrelated to it.

What is new in this release:

• This version focuses on non-algorithmic improvements.
• One such improvement is the ability to fix DPIs of source images not just on project creation but at any later point as well.
• Another improvement makes it easy to move projects across machines through resource re-linking.
• Yet another one is the ability to save your project in an out-of-memory situation.
• Finally, a 64-bit version for Windows is now available.

What is new in version 0.9.9.2:

• This version fixes a number of bugs, improves performance on the output stage, and brings German and French translations.

What is new in version 0.9.9.1:

• Fixed a few user interaction bugs

What is new in version 0.9.7.1:

• Fixed a problem of page dragging in picture zone editing mode being often interpreted as adding a new zone vertex.
• Fixed a minor bug and a few cases of inconsistent behaviour at Split Pages stage.
• Switching the type of a picture zone makes it the default type for new zones.
