Orinj is a multitrack recording and mixing software with wave and MIDI editing and sample based loop building. Orinj includes a multitude of DSP effects, such as delays, echoes, choruses, reverbs, compression, graphic and parametric equializers. It is designed to allow intuitive access to all utilities necessary for the recording, mixing, and mastering of a complete musical piece and comes a set of precreated drum samples and drum loops for various musical styles. The following are some of the typical tasks that the Orinj user may perform: 1) Record audio tracks and mix them into a complete product with full control over the mixing process with an easily accessible mixing console with volume, pan, dry, and wet mix envelopes, and effects. 2) Add modifiable effects: delays, echoes, choruses, bass choruses, reverbs, compressors / expanders, limiters, noise gates, pitch shifting, stretching, graphic and parametric equalizers, notch filters. 3) Apply effects and envelopes non-destructively during runtime or process them. 4) Examine, cut, duplicate, loop, and move with precise snap positioning. 5) Use a number of pre-created blues, pop, rock, and heavy metal drum loops. 6) Build drum loops from a complete set of available drum samples with simple point-click operations and upload additional drum samples for use in your drum loops. 7) Edit single track MIDI files to enjoy the over 100 available MIDI instruments. 8) Record MIDI files into audio waves and use them in your multitrack session. 9) Edit single wave files to master your song.

What is new in this release:

  • Made corrections to how Orinj uses 8, 24, and 32-bit data for recording, playback, effects, and VU meters. Improved the use of 16-bit playback when 24- and 32-bit playback is not available. Ensured 32-bit Microsoft IEEE waves are interpreted correctly.
  • Improved the conversion of waves from one bit resolution to another, including when importing waves in the session, loops, and the MIDI roll view. Improved the upsampling and downsampling when converting wave sample rates.
  • Corrected the computation of chorus delays.
  • Changed the computations of the early reverb reflections for larger rooms.
  • Changed the graphic equalizer so that its frequency bands split the frequency spectrum evenly (exponentially).
  • Removed residual sound data in the reverb and other effect playback.
  • Improved the presets for most effects.
  • Corrected equalizer and reverb playback so that it responds to changes in controls consistently.
  • Sped up the storing of temporary sound data in effects to improve processing.
  • Fixed the communication between effect dialogs and track control panels.
  • Simplified the precision controls in effects that employ frequency filters.
  • Simplified the functionality that restricts effects to a specific interval of time.
  • Made the computations of decibels consistent throughout.
  • Fixed the display of session and file lengths in the bottom right of the software.
  • Implemented other bug fixes.
  • Completely overhauled the help.

What is new in version 2.4:

  • Improved computations of frequency filters and equalizers, affecting a number of DSP effects- bass chorus, compressors, equalizers, notch filter, reverbs. Resulting effects produce smoother sound, have better memory management, and are less computationally intensive.
  • Improved reverb equalization with less mid-rangy sound.
  • Corrected transition of two notch filter presets, and gains in the graphic and parametric equalizers.
  • Corrected adding of points to the bouncing echo and the compressor.
  • Corrected the precision of the graphic and parametric equalizers.
  • Set appropriate bounds for the compressor and limiter attacks and releases.
  • Changed compressor graph so that it is a typical compressor graph of output vs. input values.
  • Improved the drawing of waves to allow better zooming into waves.
  • Added checks to the volume, pan, dry mix, and wet mix controls in track control panels to ensure that the user does not enter erroneous data.
  • Made other minor corrections to the display of MIDI notes, pitch bend steps in MIDI pitch bend labels, and the selection of waves.
