markdown-live is a self-hosted Node.js application that can be used to preview text when writing it using Markdown.
It can be pointed on any file or folder on disk, and it will open a Web page where the Markdown file is read and then compiled to actual HTML as it would be on any other Web application.
Editors can use their favorite writing medium (Notepad++, Vim, SublimeText) to make edits to the code, and once the file saved to disk markdown-live will go into action and reload the aforementioned page.
This allows editors to preview the Markdown code in real-time and get a feeling if what they wrote is actually being displayed in the form they intended.
markdown-live can also be started on a custom domain or port, thanks to some nifty Socket.IO tricks.
