When you ask what's the best CMS, some users will say Joomla, others Drupal, most will say WordPress. But there's no controversy when it comes to the best online store solution. Magento is it.

This e-commerce platform contains all the functionality you'll ever need from an online shop, along with all the configuration options you may ever want to tweak to model your store to any business or project requirement.

It may be a little hard to get Magento working on your server, but if you check and prepare for the minimum server requirements Magento will spare you from real costly store management fees Web design companies might charge.

There's an all-encompassing administration panel included, where all the settings reside, settings that you may ever think off or never thought off.

Everything can be managed from this backend, starting with client accounts, to invoices, and up to taxes and currencies.

But the admin panel plays a double role, allowing administrators to manage the company's actual business as well, not the products up for sale.

Reports can be generated from the backend, inventories can be managed, a basic website and blog can also be put in place, Magento providing all these tools by default.

And if something's missing, there are free and commercial extensions and themes available for tweaking the store even more.
