jQuery Mobile is building on top of the interface and code of the jQuery UI and jQuery projects, offering an unified user interface (UI) system across all popular mobile device platforms.

jQuery Mobile was built with progressive enhancement in mind and is as flexible and easily themeable as the aforementioned projects.

It lets developers concentrate on the actual look of their UI widgets, handling all the differences and platform specific bugs for him.

As with the jQuery UI project, jQuery Mobile has a similar ThemeRoller utility, letting developers easily create themes for their UIs or just use one of the pre-made skins.

What is new in this release:

  • Released to fix a few last creepy crawly bugs that cropped up from iOS8.

What is new in version 1.4.3:

  • Removed reflow CSS hack for Safari <= 5 to fix issues with assistive technology not being able to detect tables.
  • Fixed over agressive removal of handlers in animationComplete.
  • Improved performance of addFirstLastClass.
  • Fixed resetActivePageHeight() to be less aggressive and not set a min-height if the existing height is good enough.
  • Removed invalid "-ms-box-sizing" CSS property.
  • Fixed incorrect sizing of icon only buttons in a controlgroup in a toolbar.
  • Fixed incorrect width for buttons in toolbars.

What is new in version 1.4.2:

  • Fixed the issues with Android 2.3 and IE8 that were introduced in 1.4.1.

What is new in version 1.4.1:

  • More than 50 bug fixes landed in this first maintenance release for 1.4, including fixes for swipe, panel and textinput's autogrow.

What is new in version 1.4.0:

  • New default theme
  • Theme inheritance
  • SVG icons

What is new in version 1.3.2:

  • Popup: Set visibility: hidden instead of display: none to remove the need for un-hiding before height calculation.
  • Custom selects with an id containing a period don't open their popup.
  • buttonMarkup: Remove popup special handling.
  • links.js needs to depend on core, because it uses .jqmEnhanceable() and the :jqmData() pseudoselector defined in core.
  • Added note to the PHP redirect demo that says it only works on a server.

What is new in version 1.3.1:

  • Removed duplicated code in butonMarkup. Title is set twice for element when iconpos option is set.
  • buttonMarkup: Do not allow a value of null to end up the value of an attribute, because it gets stringified as "null".
  • Removed border-radius inherit for ui-btn-text.
  • addFirstLastClasses: Add it to widgets via $.extend, not $.widget because it does not use any widget factory features.
  • Added reset handling via $.extend, not $.widget to avoid additional subclass depth.
  • Fixed toolbar: changed hideDuringFocus logic to fix interaction with on-screen keyboard.

What is new in version 1.3.0:

  • Popup: dismissible option
  • Inputs: clear button option, support for file inputs
