Static site generators have been around for years, but not until Jekyll came out did developers ever pay attention to this kind of scripts.

Featuring a very simple content assembly procedure, Jekyll revolutionized the way static sites were built and showed developers that static site generators can be a real alternative to bulky CMSs.

JBake is an implementation of the same principles behind Jekyll, but coded to work in JVM environments.

JBake is quite easy to install and deploy, developers and designers having full control of everything in the site, from the port on which the site is served, to the templates used for the frontend, and up to the blog article tags.
