This is a front-end for open source tools: OptiPNG, pngcrush, advpng, jpegtran and jpegoptim. Images are made smaller (in terms of disk size) by recompressing them using best combination of compression settings, bettter algorithms, and by removing optional, invisible information like comments. ImageOptim takes advantage of multi-core and 64-bit CPUs.

What is new in this release:

  • Replaced old OptiPNG with OxiPNG -- a fancy new parallel Rust rewrite
  • Experimental version of Sparkle updater testing new ed25519 signatures

What is new in version 1.8a1:

  • Support for SVG optimizations using Rust-based svgcleaner

What is new in version 1.7.3:

  • New icon by icons8
  • Added support for non-sRGB images in Guetzli
  • Updated translations

What is new in version 1.7.2a1:

  • Added support for non-sRGB images in Guetzli

What is new in version 1.5.5:

- Option to Stop optimizations earlier (keeping progress made so far)

- Lighter/faster default config on slow machines
- Updated pngcrush
- Autolayout used for the main window

What is new in version 1.5.4:
