Geekbench is a freely distributed, yet /commercial and cross-platform command-line software designed to act as a benchmark utility for testing the overall performance of your GNU/Linux, Microsoft Windows or Mac OS X operating systems.

Features at a glance

Geekbench is engineered in such a way that it will measure the performance of a computer determining if it will handle your tasks and applications. It is multi-core aware. The latest version always features new tests, which are greatly designed to simulate real-world scenarios, as well as stress tests, which can help you determine the stability of your system.

Integer tests

The software includes a wide range of integer tests, among which we can mention AES, Twofish, SHA1, SHA2, BZip2 compress, BZip2 decompress, JPEG compress, JPEG decompress, PNG compress, PNG decompress, Sobel, Lua and Dijkstra.

Supports floating point and memory tests

Additionally, the application will run several floating point and memory tests, including BlackScholes, Mandelbrot, Sharpen Filter, Blur Filter, SGEMM, DGEMM, SFFT, DFFT, N-Body, Ray Trace, Stream Copy, Stream Scale, Stream Add and Stream Triad.

Supported operating systems

Being designed from the ground up as a cross-platform software, Geekbench officially supports all GNU/Linux distributions, as well as the Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X operating systems. Please note that an active Internet connection is required for all tests.

Availability and pricing

The program is distributed as a single gz archive that contains three pre-built binaries, one for the 32-bit (x86) instruction set architecture, one for 64-bit (x86_64) hardware platforms, and a universal one that automatically detects your computer’s arch.

Geekbench is distributed as a Pro version that costs 99.99 USD (80 EUR), as well as a standard edition that costs 14.99 USD (12 EUR). Please note that the free version runs only in tryout mode, and 64-bit tests are not available.
