GAdmin-OpenVPN-Client is a multi-platform, easy-to-use, free and open source graphical software written in GTK+ as a client for the GAdmin-OpenVPN-Server application, supporting the OpenVPN protocol.

Features at a glance

Key features include built-in support for importing an exported configuration package generated by the GAdmin-OpenVPN-Server software, as well as individual configurations comprised of a certificate, key and .ovpn files.

In addition, it supports import of multiple client setups, and allows users to share their connection with other members of the LAN (Local Area Network) they are on. The application can be configured to start at boot.

Easy to use graphical user interface

As mentioned, the application requires an existing GAdmin-OpenVPN-Server daemon to be installed and running on the host computer that you want to connect to, as well as OpenVPN. Otherwise, GAdmin-OpenVPN-Client cannot be used.

Its graphical user interface is simple and straightforward, designed for system administrators or users with root privileges. The main toolbar hosts several buttons that allows the user to quickly activate or deactivate a connection, import a connection as package or configuration file, and apply the changes made to the manual connection.

Creating a new OpenVPN connection

The GUI uses tabs to display connections, client log and client configuration components. You can manually create a new connection by filling out the form presented on the Connections tab. Basically, you will have to type a name for the new connection, add the IP address and port of the server where GAdmin-OpenVPN-Server is running, choose a server protocol, device, username, password, passfile, encryption type, log level, proxy server, proxy port, CA certificate, OpenVPN certificate, OpenVPN key, as well as to set the MSS value.

Additionally, you will also be able to choose it the connection is shared or not, if compression will be used or not, if you want to use the Firestarter firewall or not, and if the program starts at boot or not.
