Bitnami WordPress Module is an open source, cross-platform and freely distributed software project that provides a module for the Bitnami LAMP Stack, which can be used to deploy the WordPress blogging platform on your existing LAMP server without having to install the Apache, MySQL or PHP dependencies.
What is WordPress?
WordPress is an open source, fast, light, standards-compliant and free personal publishing platform. The project was started in 2003 as a personal publishing platform, with a set of features designed to make the internet publishing experience easy.
Among its highlights, we can mention rich text support, HTML editing, a powerful plugin architecture, user permissions and roles, SEO optimizations, support for multiple languages, multi-blogging capabilities, multi-user support, a template engine, as well as support for themes and add-ons.
Installing Bitnami WordPress Module
Bitnami's native installers automate the setup of a Bitnami application stack or module on GNU/Linux, Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows operating systems. To install this module on top of your running Bitnami LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP) server, just download the installer package that corresponds to your computer’s architecture, run it and follow the on-screen instructions. Both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures are supported at this time.
Run WordPress on the cloud
Thanks to Bitnami, users can deploy WordPress on the cloud using the pre-built cloud images for the Amazon EC2 and Windows Azure cloud hosting platforms. In addition to the cloud images, you can run WordPress virtualized, using the virtual images for the Oracle VirtualBox or VMware virtualization software.
