Bitnami Gradle Stack is a free and cross-platform software project that provides users with an easy-to-use and straightforward all-in-one installer for deploying the Gradle software and its runtime dependencies on personal computers. The project also provides a Docker container for Gradle and allows users to run the software on Bitnami’s cloud infrastructure.
What is Gradle?
Gradle is an open source application written entirely in the Java programming language and designed from the ground up to be used for automating the testing, building, publishing and deployment of software packages. With Gradle, you can also build and deploy generated documentation or generated static websites.
Installing Bitnami Gradle Stack
To install the Gradle software using the Bitnami Gradle Stack installer, you will have to download the package that corresponds to your computer’s CPU architecture, 32 or 64-bit. Save the package on your computer, and make it executable (right click on the package, go to Properties, access the Permission tab, and check the “Allow executing file as program” option).
Then, double click the package and follow the on-screen instructions. Basically, you will have to choose the path for the installation if the default one is not good. Besides Linux, the Gradle installer is also available for download for Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows systems.
Run Gradle on Bitnami’s cloud infrastructure
In addition to installing Gradle on your personal computer, it is also possible to deploy it on the cloud. An option is available during the installation, after you are asked to select the location of the installation. Please note that deploying Gradle on the Bitnami cloud is not free.
The Gradle Docker container
A Docker container for the Gradle application will also be available on the product’s page at Bitnami, so you can effortlessly deploy Gradle on your computer(s). Unfortunately, there’s no Bitnami Gradle Module for Bitnami’s LAMP, WAMP or MAMP stacks at the time of writing this article.
