Bitnami Cloud Tools for Google Cloud is a multiplatform, self-contained, freely distributed and easy-to-use software project that has been designed from the offset to help you control your Google Cloud services by installing a wide range of command-line utilities, as well as a preconfigured version of the Python programming language.
Installing Bitnami Cloud Tools for Google Cloud
To install Bitnami’s cloud tools for the Google Cloud platform on your GNU/Linux distribution, you will have to download the package that corresponds to your computer’s hardware architecture, make it executable with the 'chmod +x bitnami-cloudtools-google-x.x-x-linux-installer.run' command (where x.x-x is the version number), double-click it and follow the on-screen instructions.
Getting started with Cloud Tools for Google Cloud
Bitnami’s Cloud Tools for Google Cloud installers will make it easy for anyone to work with the Google Cloud services from the comfort of their Linux-powered machines, using the command-line. Please note that a Google account is required in order to use this package, which will be required immediately after installation (see the above section for details).
To get started, you will have to open a terminal emulator and run the "google-shell" command (without quotes), as well as to execute the “gcloud auth login” command (without quotes) to import your Google account. Please note that the second command will open a web browser where you must accept the terms of service.
Last but not least, the user will have to execute the “gcloud auth list” command (without quotes) to verify if his or her Google account has been correctly setup. Additionally, users should also verify if their credentials are in the 'gcloud' folder, under the legacy_credentials section.
The Google Cloud SDK command-line interface
The Bitnami Cloud Tools for Google Cloud product includes the Google Cloud SDK command-line interface, which allows you to build web apps and host them on Google App Engine, run big computer clusters on Google Compute Engine, store data on Google Cloud Storage, analyze cloud data with Google BigQuery, manage and store data with Google Cloud SQL, as well as to publish your apps with Google Cloud DNS.
