Babylon.js is an all-around solution for producing beautiful 3D environments in your browser using WebGL.

It is a full HTML5 game engine, coming packed with all the specific tools, ranging from scene management to a collisions system, from a built-in audio engine to a fully-blown particles system.

Babylon.js can be used to develop browser-based games, or just enrich a normal website with beautiful, truly immersive 3D animations.

Besides the aforementioned features, Babylon.js also includes support for anti-aliasing, sprites, 2D layering, a lighting engine, a special effects system, managing textures, a camera control system, advanced meshes, and an assets management system.

Content created with Babylon.js can also be imported and exported to other tools, supporting Blender, 3ds Max, and Cheetah3D.

What is new in this release:

  • New debug layer than can be used to display debug informations.
  • New PolygonMeshBuilder object used to create mesh from polygons.
  • New Mesh.simplify() function to automatically simplify meshes.
  • New scene.enableDepthRenderer() to register depth texture rendering.
  • New SSAORenderingPipeline to apply screen space ambient occlusion.
  • New VolumetricLightScatteringPostProcess to simulate volumetric light scattering.
  • 3dsMax exporter can now generate binary format files.
  • Support for WebAudio.
  • Support for Procedural Texture with standard usable samples and custom support. More info here.
  • Support for OES_element_index_uint extension in order to support 32 bits indices and then meshes with more than 65536 vertices.
  • Support for levels of detail (LOD) for meshes.
  • New Scene Optimizer tool.
  • Support for user marks.
  • Using High Resolution Time for performance and FPS measurement.
  • Easing functions for animations. More info here.
