Axialis IconGenerator is an icon production tool which lets you customize icons from a database of icon sets, before exporting them in all common vector and bitmap formats. The product isn't about designing icons from scratch. Instead, you select the basic icons you need from prebuilt icon sets. For now, there's a free Google Material Design icon collection and three commercial Axialis icon sets included. Many new icon sets will be released and automatically added to the product database via internet. The product and existing icon sets also automatically updates when available. Each icon set has a specific license. Free open-source icon sets, such as Google Material Design, can be used in any environment, whereas commercially licensed icons must be purchased to be used without restrictions. Note that even the paid icons can be used freely in projects if the small bitmap icons at scale 1:1 are enough for your needs (see license text to learn more). You're also able to customize icons to suit your own preferences. Each set has several overlays that can be applied in a click to produce derived icons. Overlays are little images added to the basic icon to indicate an action or state. This could be a blue "I" sign to represent "Info", or a red "!" sign to indicate an error. You can also customize the colors of the icon. Axialis IconGenerator provides a large number of common color palettes, such as Flat Colors, Material Colors, Metro Colors, etc. Once icons are selected and customized, you can add them to your own personal collection or generate them to files immediately.
Collections are useful to store your custom icons and derivations in a work file for later use. The best feature of IconGenerator is probably its "Create Icons" dialog, where you choose the icons you need. It's a dream feature for developers. The program can create SVG and XAML vector icons as well as PS, EPS and PDF icons (Inkscape required). You can also generate PNG, BMP, JPG, ICO and ICNS bitmap files in all sizes, standard or custom. Image strips for toolbars (one image containing several icons in a row) can also be generated.
In summary, Axialis IconGenerator is not an icon designer in itself, it is a creator of customized icon files generated from a database of ready-to-use icons. It doesn't offer drawing tools but it's a powerful program for developers who need professional icons in minutes.
