CartoDB is a Web service for building beautiful maps and map visualizations.
Odyssey.js takes the full features of CartoDB and allows developers to build maps that move, animate, and respond to user input in an engaging way.
The library is ideal for building travel maps and interactive journalistic stories, moving the user's view over a map as he reads or scrolls through the content.
Odyssey.js comes with three built in map interaction templates (scroll, slide, torque).
These templates can be used to build a certain type of story interaction, moving the page using sliding panels, the scroll bar position, or a timeline bar just like in videos.
Various actions can be tied to these elements, like map markers, animations, statistical data visualizations, HTML content and so on.
In the end, Odyssey.js can be used to improve the way maps are used on a Web page, transforming them from a static element into a tool that can be used to convey both data and emotion.
