nfldb was extracted from the nflgame Python library, a powerful utility for retrieving various NFL-related details, right from the leagues official website.

nfldb will help developers retrieve play-by-play related game data, with result filters for teams, schedules, scores and roster positions.

nflgame and nfldb basically provide access to the same data. The difference is how they do it.

nflgame takes data right from the NFL GameCenter JSON feed, while nfldb allows developers to store it and search it inside a relational database.

What is new in this release:

  • Updated nflgame dependency to get playoff games.

What is new in version 0.2.0:

  • This introduces a breaking change. The `team` field can no longer be used in the `play` method. Instead, you should use the new `play_player` method to select individual player statistics belonging to a specific team.

What is new in version 0.1.4:

  • Some light code refactoring and docco updates.

What is new in version 0.1.1:

  • Added a fix so that nfldb can work with psycopg2 2.4.x.

What is new in version 0.0.7:

  • Changed `nfldb-dump` to omit owner information in the SQL dump.
  • Fixed embarrassing team misspellings.
  • Made pytz version dependency consistent with nflgame.

What is new in version 0.0.3:

  • Tons of documentation.
  • Added pytz as an explicit dependency.
  • Added a `show_where` method to the Query class for debugging search logic.

Requirements:

  • Pytz
