Maplace.js allows developers to not only embed a Google Map on their website, but also overlay lines, shapes, routes, markers, markers with custom skins, inline menus, external menus or even skin the entire map's graphics package.
It's a complex library, working directly with the official Google Maps API, but also providing a simplified method for embedding a map with custom controls.
Since most Google Maps need one or more tweaks almost all the time, it's sometimes easier to use a library like Maplace.js, modify some simple settings and avoid having to dig in the extremely large official API documentation just to change the color of a marker.
Examples and usage instructions are included with the download package.
