Pollymer addresses the needs of developers working on applications that have to work in real-time, but without clogging up the page and the server with useless HTTP requests and other interactions.
This is done by implementing a basic AJAX long-polling system, a mechanism that can establish connections between a client and a server, allowing the server to send notifications to the client whenever new data relevant to the client has appeared or has been updated.
Pollymer provides the basic tools to setup such processes, along with extra features for handling operations like:
- request reuse
- request retries
- incremental backoff intervals between failed requests
- randomized request delays
- cross-domain access
- workarounds for browser "busy" indications
Documentation is included with the Pollymer package's README file.
What is new in this release:
- Adding access to "lastRequest" info.
Requirements:
- JavaScript enabled on client side
- JSON
